Saint Alphonsus Liguori Parish and School joined on Sunday, July 22, with several other organizations to give back to the community. We sponsored a pancake breakfast fundraiser for the victims of the devastating fire in Prospect Heights. Over a hundred families lost everything! Many organizations helped support this event including the fire/police department, the Lions Club, as well as other churches. Thank you to everyone who came and gave so generously. Thousands of dollars were raised and one hundred percent of the donations are going directly to the fire victims. As well, clothing and other items are pouring in! Saint Alphonsus Liguori is proud and grateful to be a part of such a wonderful community.
Saint Alphonsus Liguori is proud to announce another Gold Medal Winner!
Common Sense, the national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids and families thrive in a world of digital media and technology, has recognized Saint Alphonsus Liguori School as a Common Sense School.
Saint Alphonsus Liguori School has demonstrated its commitment to taking a whole-community approach to preparing its students to use the immense power of digital media to explore, create, connect, and learn, while limiting the perils that exist in the online realm, such as plagiarism, loss of privacy, and cyberbullying. The recognition acknowledges our school's commitment creating a culture of digital learning and citizenship.
"We applaud the faculty and staff of Saint Alphonsus Liguori School for embracing digital citizenship as an important part of their students' education," said Liz Kline, VP, Education Programs, Common Sense Education. "Saint Alphonsus Liguori School deserves high praise for giving its students the foundational skills they need to compete and succeed in the 21st-century workplace and participate ethically in society at large."
Saint Alphonsus Liguori School has been using Common Sense Education's innovative and research-based digital citizenship resources, which were created in collaboration with Dr. Howard Gardner of the GoodPlay Project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The resources teach students, educators, and parents tangible skills related to Internet safety, protecting online reputations and personal privacy, managing online relationships, and respecting creative copyright. The free resources are currently used in more than 100,000 classrooms nationwide.
"We're honored to be recognized as a Common Sense School," said Linda Chorazy, Principal. "By preparing our students to use technology safely and responsibly, we are providing them unlimited opportunities to maximize and personalize their learning."

Saint Alphonsus Liguori School students celebrated and honored Veterans and First Responders at the Veteran's Day School Mass on Friday, November 10, 2017. Students escorted Veterans and First Responders into the church, walking through a tunnel of American Flags. The patriotic music stirred everyone's hearts, and smiles and tears spread through the church. The PSA gave a lovely reception for all attending. Thank you to our Veterans and First Responders. We owe you a debt that can never be repaid.
Volley For The Cure is approaching and volunteers are needed! The Saint Alphonsus Liguori Athletic Department helps every year to raise money for a family in the area suffering from Breast Cancer, as well as donating to breast cancer research. We need your help! Even if you have not been involved in athletics, or if your students are younger, you can help in numerous ways.
Parents are needed during the tournament to help in many areas. The games run on Thursday, October 12 through Sunday, October 15 in our gym. Flower sales will be after Masses during this weekend and help is needed there also. Please, if you can volunteer your time, click on the Sign Up Genius below to sign up.
Donations of auction items are needed, and anyone can donate funds to the cause by sending items or money to the Athletic Department through the school office.
Carnations are being sold for $3.00. If you know someone who suffered from any kind of cancer and would like to purchase a carnation in their name, send in the name and money to the school attn: Volley For The Cure. Their names will be added to posters and the carnations will be brought up during Mass to honor those with cancer.
Pink hair extensions can be ordered and students will receive them next Thursday during lunch. Hair extensions are $10.00 and the order form was sent out in the last email blast.
And finally, all students and parents are invited to the games. Many schools will be playing, and it is a very exciting time. Students who attend the games will receive boom sticks! Wear your Charger Spirit wear or dress in pink!
Thank you all for helping. We have a caring and strong community of families, and our Charger Spirit is shown by community service in so many ways. This is one way to unite for a great cause!
Students at Saint Alphonsus Liguori constantly give back to the community. However, service this time meant cutting off their hair! Six students and one teacher donated 86 inches of hair to help children with cancer! Charge On!
We learned about the Saints and celebrated All Saint's Day at Saint Alphonsus Liguori on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
