SAINT ALPHONSUS LIGUORI SCHOOL STUDENTS ADVANCE TO STATE IN TRACK!

WAY TO GO CHARGERS!

The Charger track and field team completed both its conference and sectional meets this last weekend.  At varsity conference, for the boys Ben Duenez scored in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. The varsity girls were led by Jeneva Mercado and Destiny Marchetti in the shot put, as well as a 6th place finish for the team of Destiny, Lily Baroud, Julia Konrath, and Sam Sebastian in the 4 by 100 relay.

Sammi Sok was crowned conference champion in the long jump for the JV girls, with the relay team of Sammi, Katherine Vargas, Chloe Krier and Gaby Gross medaling as well.   The JV boys took home the team trophy for third overall, with AJ Marchetti, Max Karkut, Ryan Swann all medaling individually while the relay teams of Max, Ryan, AJ, Joseph Baroud and Nick Kiefer also scored.

From the sectional meet -- we are proud to say Ben Duenez and Olivia Swann each won in the pole vault and will be representing Saint Alphonsus at the Illinois state track meet this Friday!  Chase Bradford, Christian Werba, and Max Karkut also scored for the boys team, while Destiny Marchetti, Sammi Sok, Jeneva Mercado, Nicole Mercado, and Julia Konrath all scored for the girls.

Congratulations and thanks to all the track team on a great job this season, and good luck to Ben and Olivia on Friday at state!
